Carice van Houten did not know much about Nazi director Leni Riefenstahl her before she went to play in Racing.

The film is about the American athlete Jesse Owens, who won at the 1936 Olympic Games four gold medals. Riefenstahl was commissioned by Adolf Hitler, a film about the event.

“She was ambitious, intelligent, passionate. But of course she was a Nazi, although not exactly clear how enthusiastic she was,” says the actress Saturday talking to AD.

Wood hopes that ever made a film about the life of Riefenstahl. “I move now maybe me on thin ice, but it is remarkable that Hitler gave a woman the opportunity to make these films. What was the reason there, remained obscure.”

In Race Van Houten seen alongside, among others, Jeremy Irons and Jason Sudeikis.
