“Part of the game is yet to be downloaded”
The physical Pip-Boy Edition of Fallout 4 requires activation on Steam. The DVD does not contain all game files in order to install the game. Bethesda’s Pete Hines spokesman let it know in a Tweet.
One reason for this is the small storage on DVDs (4.7 GB) compared to Blu-Ray discs (25GB) using consoles. Pete Hines also mentions piracy as one of the reasons why Bethesda opt for Steam activation.
Several critical twitterers were not happy with this news, but Hines indicates that Bethesda employed the same methodology in Skyrim and Wolfenstein: The New Order.
Bethesda and Valve also announced that users who get the digital version of Fallout 4 pre-ordering an “announcer pack” for Dota 2. It is the voice of Mr. Handy-robot.
Fallout 4 comes out November 10 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
