Even Liverpool on Saturday failed to qualify for the fifth round of the FA Cup. The top team from the Premier League came on their own Anfield no further than 0-0 against Bolton Wanderers, so both teams have a recurrence.
Earlier on Saturday went Chelsea, Southampton, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Swansea City down. In particular, the home defeat by Chelsea, which lost after a lead of 2-0, 4-2 third-division club Bradford City, was striking.
Friday the Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal did not go beyond 0-0 against Cambridge United. The fourth division club itself may therefore prepare for a visit to Old Trafford.
